The officers and core members of the guild met on Tuesday, March 23rd at 10:00am at Jennie Tomlin’s home/gallery in Harrisburg to discuss the upcoming year and the future of the Cabarrus Art Guild. Nine guild members including officers were in attendance. One of the greatest concerns is the lack of attendance at the meetings and seemingly lack of interest in the Guild.
The Cabarrus Art Guild is over 35 years old, and has had it's ups and downs through the years as many organizations have, but has survived thus far and continues, as it’s primary mission, to support the artists of Cabarrus County.
In an effort to create more interest in and support of the guild, those present at the meeting made some changes in the meeting times and dates to
see if more people would be able to attend. Many folks have expressed concern about evening meetings, not just the older members
but younger members who have families to take care of in the evenings and busy week day schedules.
We have decided to have the guild meetings on Sunday afternoons and we will be meeting at Jennie Tomlin’s home/studio in Harrisburg until another location is determined.
Jennie has also offered to host several open house exhibits for exhibiting guild members in her home gallery throughout
the coming fiscal year. Board members and other’s have offered to pick up folks in their general vicinity who need transportation .
There is parking but it would be helpful to all if some folks could car pool. If you need transportation, call Keith, Margaret, or Jutta.
The meeting time is 2pm on the 2nd Sunday of the month. Please come to this meeting and support the guild! We will be discussing
the workshops, exhibit opportunities and new ideas for meeting programs at this meeting and your input is so important to the guild. We will have refreshments and Keith Pavey and Jennie Tomlin will have the program which is all about plein air painting.
Members of the “No Rules Plein Air Group” will be displaying their work and Keith will give pointers on how to pack for plein air and
show the group his beautiful handmade painting box and his painting gear.
Please come to this really important meeting of the Cabarrus Art Guild and hear the plans we have made so far!
